Welcome to The Village Surgery
NOTICE TO PATIENTS
"We are aware of the media coverage of the most recent Care Quality Commission report on our practice, and want to reassure patients that we remain open as normal.
We welcome the feedback from the CQC about how we can continue to improve the way we deliver care to you, our patients.
The team have put in a significant amount of work over the past months to introduce more robust and effective processes, but we also recognise that challenges remain.
We can assure patients that their safety is of paramount importance to us and that we will continue to build upon the improvements introduced since the previous inspection.
More work is underway and we are clear on how we are aiming to meet the highest possible standards of care."

Student protection for meningococcal disease
Public Health England is calling for students to get the MenACWY vaccine as cases of meningococcal disease - that can lead to meningitis and septicaemia (blood poisoning) - are anticipated to spike in the winter months. They are urging students to take up the vaccine during their university break before they return to university and halls of residence, where they are often in close contact with many other students.
Please click on the link below for more information on the MenACWY vaccine.

NEW PHARMACY SCHEME
Community Pharmacy Consultation Service - PharmRefer
We are really pleased to launch a new service working in partnership with Community Pharmacy to increase the availability of appointments, specifically for minor ailments. When you contact the surgery for some conditions you may be offered a referral appointment with a highly qualified Pharmacist.
An appointment will be created and texted to your phone with a time and place (you will have a choice as to which Pharmacist to visit).
The programme has been rolled out nationally and 9 out of 10 patients have their ailment resolved on the same day.
You may be asked to pay for medication that would not normally be given on prescription.
This service will allow patients to access care faster and reduce pressure on the GP surgery to provide the most urgent care to those requiring it.

ZERO TOLERANCE
The NHS operate a zero tolerance policy with regard to violence and abuse and the practice has the right to remove violent patients from the list with immediate effect in order to safeguard practice staff, patients and other persons. Violence in this context includes actual or threatened physical violence or verbal abuse which leads to fear for a person's safety. In this situation we will notify the patient in writing of their removal from the list and record in the patient's medical records the fact of the removal and the circumstances leading to it.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL WE TOLERATE THIS BEHAVIOUR.
- Please be polite and respectful, your GP and practice team are available and working hard to support you, your family and friend’s health and care needs.
- Visit the local pharmacy for clinical advice on minor health concerns and ask about the Pharm Refer Scheme.
Mask wearing in surgery is now personal preference but we would encourage patients who are suffering from respiratory symptoms to wear one when attending for an appointment. This is to protect both our staff and any vulnerable patients who may be in surgery.
We are confident that our website will provide clear and concise help and give our patients the information they require in an easy and convenient format. It has been designed with the patient’s needs at the forefront of everything, from checking surgery times to letting us know what you think of us.
